SPECIAL EVENTS
Jul 18, 2009 - The SBS Is Jookin’ In July
On Saturday, July 18th The Suncoast Blues Society is throwin’ down at Dave’s Aqua Lounge (10820 Gandy Blvd., St. Pete - 727-576-1091) with JOHN LISI, and DeltaFUNK! Lisi and da’ boys make a career of turning the pitfalls of life into funky-bluesy-body-shakin’ music that makes a ya’ feel better. Originally from Jersey (and influenced by the music there) John began writing songs before he could play a chord. By age 13 he was in Florida fronting a band of older musicians and honing his skills. Then it was on to Los Angeles, and stints with blues, funk, rockabilly, reggae, rock and even metal bands, and doing guitar work for TV shows such as L.A. Law. After performing across the U.S. and Europe John made New Orleans his home and was soon playing with legends like Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Kenny Neal, Henry Gray and Tab Benoit. He made a name for himself through his offbeat stories, and his ability to make his fingers fly over a Dobro, mandolin, steel guitar or Stratocaster as the mood took him. Showtime is 9:30 and it's still just $7.00 at the door, so come on out and play!..

Aug 30, 2009 - The SBS “10th Annual Beach Bash”
Is everybody ready for eight hours of blues, food, fun, sun and sand….to say nothing of spending the day with friends, both old and new? Well, on Sun. Aug, 30th it’s a perfect time to do just that, because its time for the Suncoast Blues Society’s “10th Annual Beach Bash” at the Lions Club Beach House (9300 W. Gulf Blvd, Treasure Island). This year The “Bash” is sponsored by: PASTINOS NEIGHBORHOOD GRILL & PIZZERIA, STEVIE B’s TOTAL GUITAR, DOWLING GRAPHICS, and BLUE WATER MEDIA….We also wish to thank Total Wine And More, and our longest-running partner, Yuengling, for their generosity in helping us throw da’ Beach Bash. Woody and the WoodTones are hosting the jam this year, and they’re a four-piece Blues act with a difference…They build the instruments they play on stage! Bring a dish to share, bring a drink if you want something special, bring a friend or two but most importantly bring yourself. Just head on out to Treasure Island and turn south onto Sunset Beach. The Lions Club will be on your left right after Caddy’s unless they move it between now and then. The festivities will kick off about 12:00 noon and go until 8:00 pm.

The Suncoast Blues Society has 783 members.
We now have members in 33 States, Canada, the UK, Germany and Northern Ireland! The word is spreading!
