Good news for power female vocalist fans! 1998 Grammy Award nominee Sista Monica’s new self titled CD has hit the stores. The comparisons to Etta James, Aretha Franklin and Mavis Staples are not lost, as Sista Monica delivers up 14 strong R&B and gospel inspired tunes. She has gathered together many of california’s finest bluesmen and women to augment her regular 6 piece band for this wonderfully produced cD. Twelve original tunes highlight this disc and reflect a range of emotions that offer a window to her soul. A particular favorite, I Don’t Want To Hurt You Baby, features chris cain’s guitar and Monica’s soulful vocals. Sista Monica has taken the blues scene by storm and we are better off for it. This is a rockin’ good disc that will keep you moving from the first act to the gospel inspired finale.
