Molten
Mike
The Movie
Let's see what the Molten One is up to now. After his first two releases
you never know what this chameleon is up to. I recall seeing Mike on
several occasions while he was working on this project. Lots of smiles,
mixed with fatigue, as he excitedly told me of his long hours working on his
latest love.
It looks like it was time well spent. This is Mike's strongest
outing yet. I must warn you, tho, that you won't find much in the Blues
vein here. The boy has gone off on another tangent again! This is a
mostly instrumental disc with a jazzy/latin aura. Lots of percussion and
rhythms to keep you moving your hips to a sensual beat. I was told that I
should listen to the music as the soundtrack to my own personal movie.
Since I'm partial to love scenes in my movies, this worked for me. Roll
cameras!
Mike has assembled a fine group of musicians to film his vision.
He's a very unselfish producer. This show is not about roaring guitar
solos. Most of the spotlights are taken by keyboardist, Julio Barrett,
and trumpeter, Bobby Gilmore, to good effect. These are two leading
men that will take you to the top. Hill Abrahams' violin and viola really
sweeten the mix. The cD was recorded beautifully at Morrisound Studios.
This Saturday night, instead of taking her out to a movie, I think we'll make
our own at home. Mmmm, where did I put those candles? Maybe I should
go out and get some of those nice smelling bath oils. I'm gonna need some
props, too. Listen, I gotta go now. I need to get ready.
