Bob Margolin"Hold Me To It"Blind Pig BPCDOn his debut release for new label, Blind Pig, Hold Me To It reveals a stripped bare Bob Margolin, it ain't a pretty sight but at least it ain't video. What we have here is Bob and the band putting it down exactly the way you hear them when they visit your favorite juke. No overdubs, no post production wizardry and no gimmicks. Fans know what Steady Rollin' can do with his guitar, whether he is stark, single string stinging or sliding up and down the neck, that chicago sound is always apparent. This is a first rate band too, Wes Johnson (drums) just doesn't miss a beat and Tad Walters (bass, harp, guitar, and occasional vocals) is as talented as they get. There are a dozen beauties on this one, Bob teams up with his piano playing sister, Sherry, on consolation and Kaz Kazanoff and Big Bill Morganfield lend a hand on Wee city Blues. The rest is left up to the band, and they don't let you down. If you like your blues undiluted and free from post production magic this is for you. Larry Lisk ©copyright 1999, Suncoast Blues Society |
